With the current pandemic, the state of the music and touring industry has dramatically changed. Where were you when everything was brought to a halt?
Yeah, it's brought a dramatic change to the industry! Hmm, at the time I must have been in the middle of working on some music from my studio... put out a few releases (EPs) last year: "A World Worth Protecting", "The High Seas" and "Threads of Wonder".
How has that affected your plans for the coming year? Did you have a tour planned, upcoming album release?
Once it was made clear that this wasn't going to be over quickly, it kind of inspired me to get working on my upcoming album, "Finding Stillness II". We were regularly hearing about the negative effects the pandemic was having on everyone's mental health and general mood (obviously!). It felt like it was the right time to go back in the 'ambient-cinematic' direction and create some beautiful, reflective music for people to enjoy.
What have you been doing to fill/make the most of your new-found free time at home? How are you supporting your mental health through all of this?
We've started playing more games at home (Chess, Splendor, Settlers of Catan). Go for a walk every morning to get out and get some fresh air, along with exercising several days a week. Aiming for 10 minute of meditation daily. Also, consuming as little of the news as I can without being ignorant.
How are dealing with the Covid third wave?
More or less the same as above. Trying to keep myself busy creating new music, while sharing and promoting the latest singles that have come out in support of the album.
Favourite Starlite Room Moment?
Eric Alper has only just introduced me to the Starlite Room. But I'm excited to hear your shows and read about the other Artists of the Day.
Do you have a message for everyone at home reading this?
I hope that my upcoming album – (Finding Stillness II, May 7th) – might offer an escape for everyone experiencing a difficult time right now. Some calmness and peace of mind, free from stress and worry.
