With the current pandemic, the state of the music and touring industry has dramatically changed. Where were you when everything was brought to a halt?

The day we realized that everything was gonna change, March 13, 2020, was a day we'd actually scheduled a shoot for a music video in my (Chris) living room. We'd done green screen tests, we had storyboards, we'd purchased the requisite wigs & spirit gum moustaches, and then we scrapped it all when they declared a state of emergency. We didn't see each other again for months after that. Not much has changed since.

How has that affected your plans for the coming year? Did you have a tour planned, upcoming album release?

It completely hosed 2020, and it continues to hose 2021. We delayed the album last year, thinking "oh there's NO way this'll still be happening in spring of 2021," but here we are. We can't tour, we can't even do a live stream together because we can't gather indoors. All we can do, really, is make videos and pray to the social media gods for likes on instagram.

What have you been doing to fill/make the most of your new-found free time at home? How are you supporting your mental health through all of this?

We've been lucky in that we've all stayed employed in our regular jobs, so we weren't faced with huge stretches of clockwatching boredom or anything. For me personally, outside of work I kept busy in bursts by doing all the artwork for the album, making the music videos and worrying. So much worrying. I recently bought the entire run of Propagandhi tablature books so that is my current time-sink/mental health support. See also: lots of Nintendo Switch.

How are dealing with the Covid third wave?

Not great! Not great. Just, really, very not great. Since we're stuck in perpetual lockdown we don't get to do any of the fun things that being in a band entails; we haven't played together since February of 2020. I haven't seen my family in Ottawa since autumn of last year. It all sucks so hard. Dang, my answers are all downers, eh? Sorry!

Favourite Starlite Room Moment?

That Municipal Waste show from 2009! Kickin' rad.

Do you have a message for everyone at home reading this?

Yes! The message is "let's not have a pandemic again!" Pandemics are stupid and I hate them, so please let's don't do another pandemic after this one. Also buy our album (June 4th!)
