Ayla Brook & the Sound Men

SPOTLITE SESSIONS

Ayla Brook (pronounced Ey–Lah) makes music as raw and vast as the Canadian Prairies. From his beginnings in Lily Plain, Saskatchewan, to successful records recorded with AA Sound System, to now his solo work, Ayla has never wavered from his original vision of honest roots rock.

That vision is brilliantly captured on Desolation Sounds, produced by Terra Lightfoot and mixed by Jon Auer of The Posies and Big Star fame. It’s a collection of songs and stories about friends and family, bursting with rock and soul and the western charm that has become the band’s trademark.

Ayla Brook & The Sound Men: have made the decision to postpone all upcoming tour dates with The Hearts. With 12 on the road, the risk is too high for our bands, friends, family and co-workers. We’re heeding the advice of medical professionals on flattening the curve for cases of COVID-19.

We’re devastated that we can’t play these new songs to a live audience, but like everything in the world right now - it will have to wait. We’ll announce rescheduled dates when appropriate and please do your part to support local venues, artists and production folks who are out of work.

To that end, we have found an alternative.

On Friday April 3 we will be performing songs from our new album on stage at the The Starlite Room as part of the Starlite Sessions. This show will be performed without an audience and streamed live online for free. We’re planning the same special guests we planned for our postponed dates and hope you’ll tune in. More info on the Starlite Sessions and our social media channels.

As a band of musicians and sound men, we are keenly aware of the lost wages and tough times during this health crisis - so any sponsorship or ad revenue from the stream will be donated to the live music staff affected.

In the meantime, listen to the medical experts, support small businesses as much as possible and practice safe hygiene for our greater community.
