A Personal Message from President & CEO of the Canadian Live Music Association to the Community

Dear Members, Industry, and Community:
To industry, colleagues and allies -

Before the recent Federal election, we worked tremendously hard to ensure that the #HardestHit sectors would be a priority for the new government. As a result, Bill C-2 was born and the legislation to provide targeted relief has now been tabled. However, it is in danger of languishing in the committee process, or worse. Any delay in passing Bill C-2 will mean a delay in desperately needed support for our industry, and those across the tourism, travel, hospitality, and live event sectors.

I am asking you, once again, to lean in and lend your voice. We need to work together, as we have now done many times, and do everything we can to urge all Government of Canada party leaders to support the passing of Bill C-2.

Indeed, it is well-recognized by many now that this industry has seen the support it has because of our ability to organize and act. When the COVID dust settles, I believe we will look back and know with certainty that it was our united voice that helped saved the day.

Thank you for your support and thank you for raising your voice #ForTheLoveOfLIVE.

Yours,
Erin Benjamin

ABOUT BILL C-2

Bill C-2, the first Bill introduced in the House of Commons by the new Liberal Government, makes good on commitments to save valuable business and jobs that are critical to Canada’s economy. It includes the extension of subsidies under the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS), the Canada Emergency Rent Subsidy (CERS), and the Canada Recovery Hiring Program until May 7, 2022.

The CLMA, alongside the Coalition of Hardest Hit Businesses, urges all MPs to pass this Bill as quickly as possible to ensure continued support to tourism businesses in Canada - and we need you to do the same.

WE NEED YOUR VOICE

Applying vocal support to Bill C-2, especially to party leaders, will encourage the rapid passage of the Bill - meaning money will flow sooner. As live music organizations approach the winter season and the the Omicron Variant threatens group gatherings, additional emergency support is needed now.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

The CLMA urgently asks that you:
