With the current pandemic, the state of the music and touring industry has dramatically changed. Where were you when everything was brought to a halt?

Before the virus broke out I was actually taking a break from releasing my own music, and had gotten in the endless cycle of playing bar gigs with cover bands. Having the extra time to breathe and re-evaluate my intentions as a musician during lockdown gave me the inspiration to start up writing and recording again, which I have found to be one of the very few upsides of that this horrible pandemic has lead to for artists all around the world.

How has that affected your plans for the coming year? Did you have a tour planned, upcoming album release?

At the moment, I have two album release dates booked on September 29th at The Hotel Cafe in LA, and at The Wayfarer in the OC. I am hoping that the delta variant will not progress so far that these dates will have to be postponed, but the most important factor is health and safety for everyone so I am remaining flexible! Regardless, the album release is scheduled for October 1st for all streaming websites and will be released on that day no matter what. :)

What have you been doing to fill/make the most of your new-found free time at home? How are you supporting your mental health through all of this?

I spent much of the time writing music and learning how to record at home during early pandemic days, which was a fascinating and fun challenge. I took an online class learning all about using Ableton, how to EQ and master, etc. I also spent as much time in the ocean as possible, and taught music lessons online. My mental health declined during the second wave of the pandemic when I lost my grandfather and anxiety was peaking for me. To work on mental health, it has been very helpful for me to work on rationalizing my innate irrational thoughts and focusing on my breath in my worst moments.

As things are reopening & restrictions are lifting have you booked any new gigs? Tours? Etc? If your region is still under restriction, how are dealing with the Covid third wave?

I don't have any touring currently planned, but have played a few local gigs in the last few moments where I've gotten to share some of my most recent compositions. I definitely took for granted the exhilaration of playing in front of a live audience before the pandemic- it is truly one of my greatest joys.

Favourite Starlite Room Moment?

I had never heard of the artist Kae Sera, really dug her song "Dames Jean."

Do you have a message for everyone at home reading this?

Make the best of a bad situation and write meaningful music <3
