With the current pandemic, the state of the music and touring industry has dramatically changed. Where were you when everything was brought to a halt?
Getting ready to go on tour with our old band, Sunny Day Encore.
How has that affected your plans for the coming year? Did you have a tour planned, upcoming album release?
We had just finished a record and were about to go on tour then the lockdowns started. Over time, things changed and the old band broke up which eventually led to this new project.
What have you been doing to fill/make the most of your new-found free time at home? How are you supporting your mental health through all of this?
Justice Ausum - I've spent a good majority of it with my family and working on a new record for CD. This whole situation has had a big impact on my mental health, losing the ability to go out and do the thing I love to do the most takes a serious toll on someone but life is life and some day soon we'll get to chase that feeling again.
As things are reopening & restrictions are lifting have you booked any new gigs? Tours? Etc? If your region is still under restriction, how are dealing with the Covid third wave?
We've taken it pretty slow, I've been focused on recording but we do have a couple shows booked. We are playing Saskatoon on November 27th and Regina on December 23rd for a Christmas show.
Favourite Starlite Room Moment?
Actually, one of my most favorite moments in my life came at the Starlite Room.
Myself and a bunch of friends drove from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan to Edmonton to see the band DIIV play. This meant the world to me as I am such a fanboy. Once we had arrived after seven or so hours on the road, our one friend had forgotten his wallet which we needed for ID to get him into the show. Luckily enough he had his ID with him. I ended up meeting a couple guys from DIIV and was also BLOWN AWAY by one of the openers called Summering. We ended up sleeping in the van that night then driving the sevenish hours back to Saskatchewan the next morning. I will forever be in love with the Starlite Room.
Do you have a message for everyone at home reading this?
We can not be more excited to start playing shows for you all soon and hopefully take the Starlite Room stage one day! As well as a big thank you to Eric Alper for spreading the word of Celia's Dream in a way no one else can!
